If there is a place we don't get tired of visiting is El Yunque. El Yunque is around a 1 hour drive from San Juan on the east side of the island. It is the only tropical rain forest in the US national forest system. It sprawls over 28,000 mountain acres offering around 28 miles of beautiful lush trails. Trails are posted along the way based on time to destination and complexity, so you don't get in a walk that you physically can or cannot do.  Visiting El Yunque is very easy, if you are driving from San Juan, take Route #26 East. You can get there faster if you use route 66 and make a turn into road 3 in Rio Grande. Below there are 4 pictures to download from a our countless trips. La Cascada de la Coca among others is featured in these beautiful photos. There are hotels, guesthouses and motels nearby so you can plan in advance. It is preferable if you stay over the night before because you wont be able to see much in one short visit. Still if you just pass by in your car, it is worth the trip, so don't miss it!
