If there is a good reason (among many) to visit Boquerón is the the food. Fresh fish like Chillo (Snapper), Mero (Grouper) and Carrucho (Conch) are culinary specialties from the local area. Actually there are over 40 seafood restaurants along the coastal community of Joyuda. Boquerón has beautiful pristine and some of the best secluded beaches from Cabo Rojo to El Combate, being a popular vacation spot in the island and the 2½ hours trip from San Juan a well worth one. There are several guesthouses and hotels in the area but make sure you book early especially during the peak season. You can't leave Puerto Rico without visiting this popular town filled with lots of good food, nice beaches and lots of water activities.
